LeBron James and the Miami Heat

On July 9 2010 LeBron James announced that he was passing on offers from the Cavs, Bulls and Nicks to head down to Miami to join Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade at the Heat. LeBron said:

"I feel like this is going to give me the best opportunity to win and to win for multiple years and not only just to win in the regular season. I want to be able to win championships and I feel like I can compete down there."

This is an interesting outcome and I can see where LeBron is coming from. Lets face it - he's been to the finals on so many occasions never to take away a ring. The power pack of James, Bosh and Wade might just be enough for LeBron to be part of a dynasty reminicent of the Jordan, Pippen and Paxson/Rodman led dynasties of the 1990's.

However will LeBron truely stand out as he has as part of the Cavaliers? I think he will and I think his memorabilia will continue to become sought given his new arrangements.

We will also (assuming) get to see a new autograph from LeBron given that he has in the past featured his jersey number (23 in the Cavaliers) as part of his auto. As a member of Miami he will be wearing number 6 (his Olympic jersey number) as Miami Heat current number 6 holder had previously nominated to switch to 15.

So a new team, new auto, new patches and maybe a championship or two - some great ingredients for some great collecting opportunities.

I'm interested to hear what you think about LeBron's switch and how will this impact your collecting?

Time will tell. Happy collecting!
